Hope Does Not Disappoint

"And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us." (Romans 5:5)

On this day in 1962, Nelson Mandela was arrested by the South African Police near Howick, Natal (now KwaZulu-Natal), and later sentenced to life imprisonment for fighting against apartheid. He spent the next 27 years in prison.

Fast-forward to May 10, 1994, Nelson Mandela is inaugurated as the first black President of South Africa, after what was regarded as the first multiracial democratic elections, marking the end of apartheid. This is a contemporary reminder that hope, indeed, does not disappoint.

Hope is a confident expectation of God's promises, rooted in a strong faith in God's wisdom and power. This hope is not centered on vanity but influenced by the love of God.

Helen Keller, the American author and lecturer who defied the odds of being deaf and blind to become one of the most inspiring figures of the 20th century had this to say: "Hope sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible."

No matter what you may be going through today, keep your hope alive because hope is the anchor for the soul and it will never disappoint us.

"We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain." (Hebrews 6:19)

Remain inspired!
