Run to Get the Prize

"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize." (1 Corinthians 9:24)

The Christian life is often compared to a race. In a race, you only get a prize based on how you finish and not how you start. If you do not finish the race, you are not considered for a prize at all.

This race lasts throughout our lives on earth. The race only ends for you the day you exit this life. This makes it more like a marathon than a sprint. In a sprint, your strength is in your speed, but in a marathon, your strength is in your endurance and self discipline.

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." (Hebrews 12:1)

Our focus in this race is to become more like Christ each day. This focus is very important because if we run in the wrong direction, it will be better if we didn't run at all.

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:2)

We must keep in mind that we shall be greatly rewarded if we maintain our focus and finish our race by the help of God's grace.

Remain inspired!
