Do You Want to Get Well?
There was at the pool of Bethesda in Jerusalem an invalid who had been in his condition for thirty-eight years.
When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?” (John 5:6)
The next verse reveals the mental attitude of the man.
“Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.” (John 5:7)
The man was full of crumbling. The lesson here is that lamenting over our problems doesn't solve them. Complaining and pity-partying doesn't get us any far.
The question to ask ourselves is, do we want to get well? Do we want to get better results? Do we want to improve the situation?
Thinking about this question instantly switches our mindset from the negative, pessimistic mode to a positive one that is ready to embrace solutions.
After adjusting his mindset, the solution was delivered.
Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked…(John 5:8-9)
The question to you today is: Do you want to get well?
