Humility Before Honor


Proverbs 18:12 (NIV)

“Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.”


In God’s order of things, true greatness does not begin with pride but with humility. A haughty heart sets itself up for a fall, but humility opens the door to lasting honor.


Consider the story of King Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 4). In his pride, he boasted of Babylon’s glory as if it were his own doing. But God humbled him, and he lived like an animal until he acknowledged that “the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth.” Only when Nebuchadnezzar humbled himself was his honor and kingdom restored.


History echoes the same truth. Nelson Mandela, for example, chose humility and forgiveness instead of vengeance after his release from prison. His posture of humility brought him honor not only in South Africa but across the world. On the other hand, countless rulers who clung to arrogance and oppression have fallen into disgrace and ruin.


As Andrew Murray beautifully said, “Pride must die in you, or nothing of heaven can live in you.”


So walk humbly today—in your words, in your relationships, in your achievements. For in God’s kingdom, the lowly are lifted, and the humble are crowned with honor.

Walking in Space

On this day in 1984, Svetlana Yevgenyevna Savitskaya, a Russian cosmonaut (currently 74 years and still alive), became the first woman to walk in space. Her story is an interesting one. She started by parachuting. At the age of 16, she had begun parachuting whilst her parents were unaware. By the time she turned 22, she had over 400 parachute jumps to her credit. Eventually, she began to participate and win in the World Aerobatic Championships. Svet went on to grab an engineering degree from Moscow Aviation Institute and, at last, qualified to fly. She kept on excelling in her role and setting new records in speed and altitude. Her bravery and excellence paved many ways for her until she got selected to join the Soviet space program in 1980. In total, Svet has spent 19 days, 17 hours and 6 minutes in space throughout her career. Eyes are watching

Eyes are watching!!!!!!! Most things when done out of the sight of others, especially, things that are not worthy, what do we most of the times hear the perpetrators say; “nobody saw us or nobody was around”. Yes indeed, to them nobody saw them. But the most appropriate thing to be said is, “we did not see anybody around”, for all you know eyes are watching. The eyes that watch us one way or the other affect us, because a time will come when these same eyes are going to make decisions about us and pass out judgments.
